This week’s news items follow. As a reminder, school is closed on Monday (February 15) in observance of President’s Day.

Custom Face Masks

Back by popular demand, order your John F. Kennedy face mask. The online shop is now open but will close on Sunday, February 28. Choose from six designs and four sizes. All orders will be shipped directly to your home. Proceeds benefit the Associated Student Body.


Athletic conditioning has started, and important eligibility information follows. Although not all teams are participating, the completion of the following two requirements will ease the return-to-play transition.

  • Boys’ Golf: Any student interested in playing boys’ golf, please contact Coach Dean Okasaki at
  • Girls’ Soccer: Interested in girls’ soccer? Try out for the JV and Varsity soccer team, but first complete this Google form. Each player should also complete a sports physical as well as the athletic clearance process (see above).
  • Aquatics (Swimming/Water Polo): Any student interested in an aquatics sport, please click here, and a coach will reach out. Conditioning will begin in the next few weeks.

National Black History Month

February is designated as National Black History Month. This year’s theme is “ Black Family: Representation, Identity, and Diversity.” As educators, we honor the contributions of the African American community by teaching a curriculum that is culturally relevant and inspiring. While we may be unable to commemorate this year as in years past, there are many community events scheduled in observance of Black History Month. I hope that you will join in celebration.
