John F. Kennedy Bulletin
September 6, 2019
John F. Kennedy Families & Community:
Last night, Rohit Jhawar (‘20) was recognized by the Board of Trustees for his win earlier this summer in the grueling national congressional-styled speech and debate championship. You read that right: Rohit is the national champion, Kennedy’s very own national champion.
Rohit, we really could not be prouder of you! A second shout-out to Coach Quest Sandel for his commitment to and support of Rohit as well as Kennedy High School!
Recently, Sacramento Regional Transit (Sac. RT) has made changes to the route system. Click here to check that your student’s bus route has not changed.

Assistant Principal Vanessa Buitrago
Join me in congratulating Assistant Principal Buitrago, who last night, with a unanimous positive vote from the Board of Trustees, was named principal at the School of Engineering and Sciences (SES). Although she will be missed at Kennedy, I am super pleased that her leadership will continue to benefit the larger community.
Congratulations, Principal Buitrago! Great things are ahead!
In the coming days, your student will receive a copy of the District’s annual parent and student rights handbook. A parent survey will be included. Known as the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), data collection survey, the results, when reported to the State, directly affect District and site funding allocations. Your data is essential to ensure Kennedy receives what we are due.
Please complete this survey and return it to the school by October 31. Your help is much appreciated!
2019-20 Assessment Calendar
This year’s testing calendar/schedule is available here.
The PSAT is quickly approaching! All ninth and tenth graders will participate in the PSAT on October 16 during periods one through four. Students will receive practice materials and additional information from their English teacher.
Juniors who wish to take the PSAT will need to register in A.P. Buitrago’s office (with Ms. Brown) on either September 12 or 13. The registration fee for juniors who do not qualify for a fee waiver is $17. The PSAT will be administered at no cost to all freshmen and sophomores.
Should you have questions, please contact Assistant Principal Buitrago.
